Just had a bowl of Chinese Oatmeal and soy milk .. don't ask ... for my breakfast and it hit me that right now a big old buttermilk biscuit, sliced with a slab of fried Livermush and a shot of good old yellar mustard would bring a tear to my eye and a comforting feeling to my belly.
Sigh ...... ![]() |

Ah Lewis that's what Ken tells me all the time but he takes some fine photos himself! Besides you usually carry your own photographer!
![]() Wish I could join ya ... don't guess I'll bet back in the states till the 24th though. Cambric is steep and the direct old route has a slide of death ... yeah and not sure I'd feel the same way but dang if it weren't fun! Glad we didn't hit any hidden rocks on that slide! But dang if I don't love that old ridge. I remember it back in the day with more tree cover and it was prettier but the fire did open up the views! I'm far from a gram wennie but I've been slowly getting my load weight (not counting water) down to the 25 to 30 lb level even with my toys. If I hard cored it I could go to 20 but nawh ... it take to much of my comfort stuff out of the mix. I'll tell ya ... one of the things that's on my front burner is making that video trip of Rock Jock. Been laying it out in my head this whole trip. Where to rig the cable cam for the best use of it, how to get some of the side trip shots. Keeps me from going further nuts over here! ![]() |

Hey thanks Michael, I'm no photographer, but it's not hard to get a great photo in the Gorge. I like Cambric too, hope to make it a part of a loop again soon, and you're welcome to join Michael! We'll be headed to the Gorge later this month in fact...
And by the way, I feel like if I can get my pack under 45, especially in winter, that I've done alright! The hammock makes that easier though. Grant, nice to hear you survived Cambric. Thanks for the brief report on the status. I'm happy you found your way down with ease. The trail should continue a good ways past the turn down the lobe. It may have closed in considerably in the past couple years. But there used to be trail through the pines until the woods became mostly hardwood again and the ridge steepens. Then I remember there being a mess of different color flagging a good portion of the rest of the way down. At that point, you just slide...lol. -Lewis |

I see that this forum lacks focus, permits specious threads and allows language such as "livermush"...
