I've been lurking here for several months. Tried the other site and Face Book with a bit of disappointment, but I've been very happy with how well you folks all get along and how much you love the gorge. I still have a lot of reading to do but just wanted to say thanks to Ken and all of you for providing a place for an old fellow to revisit a favorite place of his youth.

Congratulations to Wigg and his bucket list. You're last check off was a fine way to give back to the group and future vistors of the gorge.

Welcome, hope to see you on the trail sometime. If there's anything anyone can help you with in planning a trip or telling a a good joke or two ... let us know!  Grin

Enjoyed the PM's from you this past week and if you ever want to join us on a clean up, trail work or just to get together on one of the Gorge Rat gatherings ... this is the place to hear about it first.

Thanks Ken and Hawkeye. Might just take you up on the offer of assistance. Hope to get to the gorge before this coming winter. I'll PM you if I'm going to be in the area sooner.

Thanks Flatline I got a good laugh from reading posts about your pickled eggs from back last year (I think in the fall?).
Hope you gentlemen don't mind lurkers. I'm not much of a typer, takes too long for me. So I read a lot. Besides on the other sites when I expressed an opinion there was one person (same person) that was less than pleased. So mostly I just read now.

Well we try to stick with the if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all here at LG.net.  Unless we see a response to a newbie like the ones you describe ... then we might get hawty with the "experienced rat" and not the newbie.  Don't be afraid to ask anything you want here.  We will talk anything from setting up hammocks, to which trail goes where, to recipes, to flatulence (sorry Hickory).... Anytime you want to chime in feel free.  Grin

Mike said it well ... feel free to ask questions ... there are not stupid questions and there is so much information here ... sometimes it's overwhelming so don't worry about re-asking something if you can't find it in your onsite searches. Try the stickies first ... we try to keep repeated info there when possible.

Welcome to the site Gus! Hope you find a good experience here.

My typing skill is less than desired too. I feel your pain!  Wink

i think you fit right in.
i believe most of us do a LOT more lurking than typing.
in my case, i just add a little "color" commentary and or hot air Grin
